Hydro bills are about to spike and residents should be aware, say local and provincial experts.
Electricity users across the province will see a jump of up to 16% on their next bill, not to mention the summer heat’s effect on hydro use.
In a Toronto Star article published July 28, chair of the Electricity Distributors Association Brian Bentz said HST would cause an 8% increase for everyone, fixed contract or not. The other 8% jump comes from an increase in price of power paid to generating companies, said Bentz. The second factor affects everyone without a fixed-price contract.
